Why need to modify the motor driving voltage:

  • The stepper motor driving voltage of conventional 3D printers is usually 1-2A, which is compatible with the standard 42 Nema 17 stepper motor. For example, the ENDER 3 V2 is 1.2v

  • Use 36 Nema 14 stepper motor: such as DM1 ASPINA motor.
NOTE: If you use our Aspina 36 motor, driving voltage 0.57V is recommended.

  • The adapted driving voltage is 0.57V . If the voltage is not changed, the motor may be burned for a long time.

  • Adjust the current by adjusting the voltage, Reference drive voltage and current Irms=P*Vref  P is the approximate range of current loss.

Modification method:   1/ A4988         2/ TMC2208 ect.

  1. If you use the  36 nema14 for OMGV2 extruder, the recommended voltage is 0.57V.

  2. Or use the original motor, because the extruder has a 1:3 gear ratio. The driving voltage can be adjusted to half of the original.

1/  FIRMWARE REFRESH ADJUST THE CURRENT FOR THE STEPPER MOTORS,ULTIMAKER, PRUSA I3 MK3/S ETC.

The picture below shows the firmware modification. The motherboard is MKS

  • Please write the following code (red) into a notepad, save it to a TF card, as a Gcode format file, Then insert the TF card into the printer and execute printing to modify it (the original value is 93)

  • NOTE: If you buy our 36 ASPINA Shinano motor, 0.57V-0.6V is recommended.

2. MANUALLY ROTATE THE POTENTIAL SCREW ON THE DRIVE TO ADJUST THE STEPPER MOTOR VOLTAGE-CHANGE THE CURRENT. TMC2208 TMC2209 ECT.

Notice:

* When using a Voltmeter to measure the driving voltage, do not connect the stepper motor
* Measure drive voltage Motherboard need Connect the power supply, Not -ubs connection

Important note:

Turn the potential screw to be sure to disconnect the motherboard power supply

Adjustment method

  1. Power off the motherboard

  2. Rotate the potential adjustment screw

  3. Then power on the motherboard

  4. Use a multimeter to measure voltage

Repeat the above steps-adjust to the correct voltage

To measure the voltage, Needs to be connected to the power supply of the motherboard, not USB connection

STEP13.jpg

Important note:

Turn the potential screw to be sure to disconnect the motherboard power supply

Prevent short circuit and burn out the drive.

Note:

Because the motherboard is different, the rotation direction of voltage up and down may also be different. Please turn the screw a little first, and test whether the voltage reduction is clockwise or counterclockwise. In order to avoid damage caused by misuse.

If you use the special 36 nema14 for OMGEXTRD extruder(Aspina motor), the recommended voltage is 0.57V-0.6V.

After modification. The effect you see is as follows
